Debris Disposal & Cleanup
Cleanup as a Standard Part of Tree Work
Unless otherwise stated in a proposal, Ashburn Tree removes all material generated during pruning and removal operations. Managing wood, brush, and debris is treated as an integral part of every project, and we always pursue sustainable options whenever possible. Each proposal clearly outlines how debris will be disposed of so clients know exactly what to expect.
Standard Categories of Material
Wood
Larger trunk and stem pieces, often suitable for firewood or, in some cases, woodworking. Firewood requires seasoning before it can be used.Brush
Branches small enough to be carried or dragged by hand. Brush is typically chipped on site, producing wood chips that are repurposed as mulch rather than discarded.Debris
Smaller by-products such as chips, sawdust, and twigs. These are collected and removed from turf, mulch beds, and hardscapes to leave the site in a neat, orderly condition.
Alternative Options
In some cases, clients may request alternatives to complete removal of all debris. These options are always specified in the proposal so there is no uncertainty about how wood, brush, or debris will be managed:
Leave-Lay – Material left on site, either permanently or for later removal by others. Branches may also be placed in a designated pile to provide natural cover or wildlife habitat.
Processing – Cutting larger wood into manageable lengths, such as firewood, for client use.
Placement – Relocating material to another part of the property for stacking, storage, or repurposing.
Sustainable Practices
We prioritize recycling and reuse of arboricultural by-products. Whenever possible, wood, brush, and chips are repurposed in ways that contribute to soil health, habitat value, or community benefit — as mulch, compost, firewood, or wildlife cover.
